Charlotte Steel
Welcome to my practice in the heart of the Chalke Valley.

Whatever has brought you here - anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, or a sense of being isolated or lost - you deserve to be heard and supported. Therapy is a quiet place to reflect on your life and allows space to talk in a way that perhaps you can't with your partner, friends or family. Have you been raised to 'sort yourself out' without really knowing how to do that? Perhaps friendships are disintegrating and you feel alone?
Unpacking emotional baggage means it's no longer a dead weight.

Although I work with many different people, I also support women in midlife and later life who feel lost, overwhelmed, or in transition, to better understand themselves and find a clearer way forward.
Midlife can be a time of change, sometimes gradual, sometimes unexpected.
You may find yourself feeling unsettled in ways that are hard to explain.
Perhaps you’ve always coped, held things together, and been there for others, but now something feels different.
You might be:

-
Questioning who you are or what you want now
-
Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally stretched
-
Facing changes in relationships, family roles, or work
-
Experiencing the emotional impact of menopause
-
Living with a quiet sense of “Is this it?”
Even if your life looks fine from the outside, it may not feel that way on the inside.
Why midlife can feel difficult:
Midlife often brings a combination of external and internal changes.
There may be practical shifts, children growing up, ageing parents, relationship changes, or career transitions. At the same time, something more personal can begin to surface: questions about identity and what comes next.
This can feel confusing, especially if you’re used to managing and coping.
For many women, this stage of life isn’t just about change, it’s about re-evaluating who you are and how you want to live.
A space to pause and make sense of things can be extremely beneficial and counselling offers you time and space to slow down and reflect.
You don’t need to arrive with a clear problem or the “right” words. We can begin wherever you are.
Together, we can:

-
Explore what’s behind the feelings you’re experiencing
-
Make sense of patterns, past experiences, or long-held roles
-
Understand the impact of current life changes
-
Help you reconnect with yourself and what matters to you now
My approach is calm, supportive, and at your pace. There’s no pressure to be a certain way or to have everything figured out.
Midlife can feel isolating, especially when others around you seem to be coping.
But what you’re feeling is more common than you might think, and it can be worked through.
If something in this page resonates with you, you’re very welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation.
